Residential Occupancy Verification Prior to Further Investigation
A client engaged investigators to determine whether an individual remained connected to a residential address believed to be relevant to ongoing legal proceedings. The matter required discreet verification of occupancy and current activity before additional investigative resources were committed.
The brief
The client sought independent confirmation as to whether a subject was residing at or regularly attending a nominated residential address.
Given the potential cost of broader investigative activity, the objective was to first establish whether the address remained a viable point of inquiry and whether there were observable indicators connecting the subject to the location.
What we did
Investigators conducted a targeted attendance at the nominated address and maintained observation over a defined period. The property was assessed for signs of occupancy, recent activity, vehicle presence, and other indicators commonly associated with active residential use.
Additional open-source enquiries were conducted to verify the current status of the property and identify any publicly available information that might explain observed conditions at the location.
All observations were documented contemporaneously and reviewed before reporting.
What changed
The investigation identified multiple indicators suggesting the premises was no longer actively occupied. Open-source enquiries further established that the property was being offered for sale, providing a plausible explanation for the absence of activity and indicators of vacancy.
The findings allowed the client to redirect investigative efforts away from an address unlikely to produce meaningful results, saving time and cost while refining the next stage of enquiries.
