Lawful database and public record searches
Background investigations at ProFact begin with structured searches across lawfully accessible registers and databases. Depending on the brief, that may include ASIC company and director extracts, court listings and litigation history, property and title registers, professional licensing records, business name searches, bankruptcy and insolvency listings, and address or association signals from public record sources.
Where an insurer or employer instructs ProFact with lawful authority, file intelligence may also be correlated against external record data to test consistency in claimant history, prior claims activity, employment statements or declared qualifications. Every source is identified, captured and logged so findings can be reviewed later without dispute about what was searched and what was returned.
Cross-checking and verification
Database results are not reported in isolation. ProFact investigators cross-check names, aliases, addresses, employer details and claimed credentials against multiple registers and, where scope permits, direct verification pathways such as former employers, referees or accreditation bodies. That discipline reduces reliance on a single incomplete record and helps instructing parties see where a subject’s stated history aligns with, or diverges from, documented fact.
How we compile the detailed background report
Findings are compiled into a comprehensive, source-cited background report structured for the instructing party. A typical report includes a plain-language executive summary, chronological history where relevant, prior claims and litigation summary, employment and qualification findings, association and asset mapping, and a source ledger indexing each register, database or verification step relied upon.
Reports are reviewed by a senior investigator before release. ProFact presents what the record establishes, scoped to agreed objectives and conducted lawfully. Where field observation or online capture is also required, background work can sit alongside surveillance investigation or desktop and OSINT under the same senior oversight.
